Introduction

Sancton Wood School is a small, family-owned, independent, co-educational school in the centre of Cambridge for children from 3 to 16. We are known for blending innovative ideas with the traditional. Accordingly, we are proud to announce the opening of the first Fifth Form Centre in the UK where our older children study for their GCSEs with the children from the Cambridge International School. This centre, named the Jill Sturdy Centre, in honour of our founder, is in a fine converted warehouse midway between the senior and junior schools.

The Infant School has classes for Nursery and Reception and for Years 1 and 2 (aged 7). Years 3 through 6 (aged 11) are located in our Junior School. We finish with the Senior School with five classes up to GCSE. Throughout the school class sizes are deliberately small - the largest being just 16 in the Senior School.

The School has very close links with Baby Unicorns (a very successful creche for 1 and 2 Year olds) and has one Baby Unicorn room at the School's St. Paul's Road Site. Sancton Wood is also associated with the new Cambridge International School and Holme Court School for Dyslexics in Biggleswade.

Sancton Wood School

Sancton Wood holds a unique position in Cambridge due to its history and its educational ethos. The school prides itself on its outstanding contribution to the social, intellectual and emotional development of its children. The results are reflected in our 100% pass rate at GCSE.

Our highly qualified and committed staff endeavour to develop each pupil's innate skills to their full potential, whilst instilling excellent manners and consideration for others. Our fees are kept low, in order to provide a high standard of education to a very broad social mix of families.

The school management wholeheartedly endorses the founder's principle of small class sizes, allowing an individually tailored educational programme for each pupil. They are confident that parents who choose Sancton Wood School feel that they are an active part of the pursuit of excellence within the ideal educational environment.

Happy children

Our Emblem and Motto

Sancton Wood is unique, successful and fills a particular niche in the education of children in Cambridge. The Unicorn is the emblem of the school, chosen because of its symbolic association with purity and integrity, qualities which we closely encourage. As many traditions are becoming eroded, Sancton Wood is proud to adhere to certain values. Our aim is to send our pupils into the world as citizens able to cope with the pressures of adult life. This is exemplified in the school motto, "Da gratiam semper justa facere" - "Give grace to do always those things that are right".
